Bio:

My wife and I moved out of London to our present house in Dorney Reach in 1982 when our first son was a year old.  He and his two younger brothers were brought up here, but have long since left home.  Two of them now live overseas – the eldest in Australia and the youngest in New York – so proximity to Heathrow is quite an advantage for us.

Although I have a degree in chemistry and trained as a pilot of light aircraft, I have spent my whole working life as a chartered accountant, initially with one of the big firms in London, followed by a few years in industry in Iver, but from about 1985 as a partner in a general accountancy practice near Reading, until my retirement in 2018.  In 2002, a neighbour, who was also a client of the accountancy practice, asked me to accept appointment as Dorney Parish Council’s Internal Auditor and I served in that capacity and also prepared the Council’s annual accounts for 19 years until 2020, before standing for election as a councillor in May 2021.  In 2018, the same neighbour asked me to become a trustee and the treasurer of Dorney Village Hall, in which capacity I continue to serve.

I am looking forward to working with my newly-elected colleagues for the benefit of Dorney and I hope that my accounting experience will be of some use.
